President, Owner, Meeting Planner
Spotlight Meetings & Events is the creation of Peggy Purcell-Mayer and the culmination of more than a decade of experience in the hotel and meeting planning industries.
After specialized training in the hotel and travel fields, Peggy began her career at the Chicago Marriott Downtown. In her four years with the Marriott Corporation, Peggy's personality and work ethic led to a rapid ascent from Front Desk Associate to various management positions including Front Desk Supervisor, Reservation Sales Supervisor, Convention Floor Supervisor, Executive Meeting Coordinator, and Catering Sales Supervisor.
Peggy then brought her expertise to Chicago's historic Whitehall Hotel as Catering Sales Manager. Her wide range of experience in the hotel industry gives Spotlight Meetings & Events insight which is critical to meeting hotel accommodation needs of its customers.
After five years in the hotel industry, Peggy's background in hotel accommodations, convention services, and meeting planning allowed her to make a smooth and natural transition to the field of corporate travel and event planning. With American Express Group Travel Services, she served as an in-house meeting planner for CNA Insurance. At McGettigan Partners in Chicago, Peggy expanded her event planning to serve a variety of industries and corporate giants such as Proctor & Gamble, Eli Lily & Company, Quaker Oats, and Nortel Networks.
Throughout her career, Peggy has gained invaluable insight, experience, and contacts in hotel, travel, and event-planning industries. She brings all this and more to Spotlight Meetings & Events, where personal and professional service put the customers' needs in the Spotlight of success.
Stacy Gall has a flair for design, decor, and DIY. Her home has been featured on a well-known design website, Apartment Therapy, showcasing how she added her own quirky style to her historic home.
Her home was voted the number one house tour the year it was featured. She has also featured some of her DIY projects in YES! Magazine, a local women’s magazine published by the Kankakee Daily Journal.
She has also made a couple of videos for YES! Magazine’s website demonstrating how to make some of her projects so that others can do it too!

Renee has a natural flair for design; with a background in retail, she spent years developing her skill as she designed and decorated windows and other displays. For many years, she has also been the go-to for events hosted by friends and family.
Her passion fuels her! She loves attention to detail — down to the napkins or intricacies of a centerpiece. She also enjoys a good theme. But most importantly, Renee looks forward to meeting with clients, soaking up their vision, and then making that vision a reality.
Her favorite part of event planning is watching a vision unfold from conception to a finished, polished, and successful event — from the beginning all the way to the end.
Jen has several years of experience in the event-planning and hospitality industry. As a manager at The Walnut Room at Macy’s in Chicago, she has developed the ability to successfully wrap her mind around events from the very beginning through to their end.
Her relational skills also make her stand out as a respectable event planner as she is adept at working with people and discovering exactly what customers’ needs are.
Her eye for artful design makes her an asset to any event — professional or personal. You would love working with Jen as she creates highly styled arrangements and pays careful attention to the very last detail.
Marissa worked for Spotlight as an intern for one year before coming on as an official Event Coordinator following her graduation from Olivet Nazarene University in May 2016.

She has also worked with event-planning in roles with Your Best Moments and Zonta Club of Kankakee, and she served as the Strategic Events Assistant at Olivet Nazarene University as well as a teacher’s assistant to a professor of event planning.
Her creativity is matchless and she is an asset to the Spotlight team!
